our big girl made a big decision yesterday: she threw her pacifiers in the trash! we’ve had an only-in-bed (and road trips) rule for a while now, but she’s been pretty attached to her paci since day 1. but yesterday while on the potty, mama was pretending to be “Hannah”, the character in Alice’s favorite potty book (by the way, she’s doing great for #1 on the potty. #2 is still a work in progress).
so “Hannah” was conversing with Alice. somehow the conversation went from being a big girl on the potty to being a big girl and some day throwing away her paci. mama apparently thought she was setting the table for doing this sometime in the future. but Alice looked from Hannah in the book to mama, asking if she could throw her paci away now? mama and I gave eachother lots of looks and shrugs, thinking “is she really doing this?” and yes, she was determined, even when reminded that this is really it. we figured bedtime would be rough, but it was pretty much business as usual, and she slept as long as usual too.
here’s a picture from last month, just for fun. have I mentioned she loves singing? she’s always singing and often dancing too
so good job, big girl. your determination surprised me, and I’m guessing this won’t be the last time.
