Katie was (usually) a good dog for 5-1/2 years, but now she’s gone to a better place: grandpa’s house!
we got her to cheer up Michelle’s spirits as she lingered on the couch in poor health for a while, and she certainly did that job well. I always said I didnt want a dog you could punt across the street, but she won me over. super cute, super smart, super friendly, super yappy.
she handled the arrival of the kids rather well, but she never really liked them and very seldom wanted to play with them. we were really hoping that the dog would be a little pal for the kids. meanwhile, Michelle’s parents (especially her dad) were really hoping for a mature dog to be a companion, and they absolutely love Katie, and Katie really really loves grandpa especially.
so after a long time of planning and thinking about it, we decided to give “the wooch” to grandpa for his birthday and Christmas and new years and MLK and anniversary. he was totally surprised and loved the idea of calling Katie their own.
so we said goodbye to Katie today. I’m sure the kids will be saying “where did wooch go?” for a while now, but we got Roxie for them to grow up with and play with, and so far so good on the front. she’s a good little dog, but there will only be one wooch, and we’ll all miss her.
