we had a grand 5-day weekend in Illinois with Grandma and Grandpa Thomas’s place. once again the kids did very well on the road both there and back, for which we’re very thankful. the dog came too and did just fine. we’re so glad our earlier road trip went well, because that emboldened us to take this trip…500 miles? no problem! and indeed…no problems. well, except for an incident involving about a dozen ticks (none on the dog) but we wont dwell on that. anyway, hooray for antihistamines and digital entertainment.
it was great to spend time with the ‘rents at their place. both grandparents got to show off the kids and do cool stuff with them in their new hometown. they’re starting up a new presbyterian church in Champain-Urbana, which is a very exciting and at times overwhelming thing. so we got to meet one of the families that’s helping start things, and see where they will be meeting and all that good stuff. please pray for them as they’re having their first public worship service Sept 23.
of course we did other fun stuff like play in the park and just have a good time as a family. the kids LOVED going to a little petting zoo where they got to ride on the ponies. we werent sure how they’d do with that, but they had a blast. later that day Michelle caught the decorating bug and was a woman on a mission as she helped spruce up their living room. a lot of fun.
we’re so thankful for such a great family.
