no more overtime! we met our deadline and were sent home a little early on friday afternoon. for the first time in a while, I didnt work at all on a Saturday. I played with the kids all day, and it was a beautiful thing. we all went to a Lookouts game this evening and despite the heat we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. the kids especially liked the San Diego Chicken, who is indeed entertaining. when I was putting Caleb down and saying prayers, he took over saying the things he was thankful for (usually he follows my lead), saying: “thank you for baseball, thank you for chicken, thank you for baby chickens” (one of the skits involved kids in chicken outfits)…then he went into all kinds of random things like light and dark and trains, which was both fascinating and hilarious.
anyway, thanks to all who prayed and encouraged and helped out. Michelle could hardly believe its over. and next week is the holiday plus a half-day off for all my troubles so we’re nearly on vacation already.
I have vowed that this will never happen again. I know you-gotta-do-what-you-gotta-do, but over a month of 70 hour weeks is beyond unreasonable in my book, not to mention being treated poorly on top of it all. so we’ll see what happens. please pray for discernment and wisdom, and — one way or another — a work situation that is better for our family.
