for a long time I never really liked Jars of Clay (being generally averse to CCM) but they did a great album of old hymns and updated hymns (lots of Indelible Grace songs) that I really like. and then their latest album came out last year and it pretty much rocks. I listened to it a few times and it was lodged in my brain for a while. every now and then an album just wont stop playing in my head, even at night, which is annoying, but a good kind of annoying. so then I have to back off for a while. anyway, I’m not too big on pop/rock but I enjoy certain flavors more these days. I’ve heard the live version of the song “Work” will “rock your face off” so I’m looking forward to it. not to mention covering Julie Miller’s “All my Tears” which is a great song that we may work up the nerve to do in church someday.
I’m not a big fan of the Riverbend festival (being generally averse to crowds and washed-up bands), but since I’m digging on Jars these days, and they’re playing on the “Christian” night (Tuesday), we’re going to try to borrow some pins to go check them out. I think I’ve got a source, but just in case: anyone not going that day we can borrow/rent pins from?
hopefully the “faith and family” night will mean less halter tops and tiny shorts, but I’m doubting it. at least there will be chicken-on-a-stick.
