lots of good stuff this weekend. first on friday evening we went to the art event down on main street. there was a bunch of artists showing their stuff, including our friends Katie (we’re proud to own one of her awesome paintings) and Shaun. it was a very cool event, and the coolest part was that we bought one of Shaun’s paintings! we love his stuff and have been wanting to get something of his for a while. I’d encourage everyone to check out his work and consider taking some home. I never thought I’d be one to buy original artwork, but I’m very glad to not only have great art in our home but also support the work of our friends. so check it out.
after the art thing we went to the Bethany banquet. our local chapter of the national Christian adoption agency was celebrating 25 years in town. they were started at our little church back in the day, so there’s a lot of connections. lots of great testimonies and stories that night.
my parents came in town too, so on Saturday we went to the Lula Lake land trust to hike a little (if walking down a gravel road is a “hike”) and take in the sights of the waterfall and scenery. very, very nice and there’s lots of trails and such we didnt get to. Caleb LOVED throwing rocks in the water of course. so go check it out. they’re open twice a month and its right in our back yard.
and since my folks were in town, we got a lot of good stuff done around the house. I FINALLY cleaned out the basement (after 6 months of living here) so that’s a big burden lifted. grandpa mowed the lawn and hung up curtain rods too. of course the kids had a great time with grandma and grandpa.
on Sunday evening there was a pancake dinner at church so we left the kids with grandma and went and had a nice time of fellowship on our own. afterward he lounged in the lobby of the Chattanoogan and quietly read books together and had a nice talk too…increasingly rare events for us. there’s a busy week ahead but I certainly hope we can take time to reflect on and be thankful for this holiest of weeks and all that it means.
