this is a reminder for me as much as anything else, but please pray for my parent’s trip to New Orleans this week, as they’ll be going down with their church to help with continued rebuilding efforts. please pray especially for my dad as he’ll be leading the work crew. it’s pretty cool to see my parents go on a “missions trip” and be able to pray for and support them, especially since I was on the other side a bunch of times in highschool.
other various things:
Caleb and I had a good time hanging out with just us this morning. first we went to the “guitar store” to drop of the new mandolin for a little tweaking (replacing the bridge, fixing the nut, etc). hopefully it’ll come back sounding even better. Caleb of course loved all the guitars and other instruments. I was quite proud of him when he correctly pointed out the few mandolins (and one violin) on the wall. I wondered if he, like me, thought there should be more of them there. after that, on a whim, we went to the big fish tank for a while. Caleb loves watching the fish almost as much as I do.
Alice is becoming an expert knee-walker. she actually took her first couple steps the other day, but shows little interest in walking in general, as she prefers to crawl or walk on her knees. she does like to push her shopping cart around the house too, which is helping her with the whole walking idea, I think.
sad news: infradig is pulling the plug. (if you didnt know, they’re a jazz/funk/electronic kinda band comprised of old college friends). at one time I was their #1 fan (tied with Scott A.), so it’s weird to see them shut it down, but still understandable. if they had happened to have been somewhere like New York, and had the desire to, it’s pretty clear they could’ve hit it big (or at least as big as their niche would allow). I guess relatively speaking, being here in Chatty and family-oriented kinda guys, they did hit it pretty huge. anyway, they’re not done yet, as apparently they’ll cut a new record and do some more shows before wrapping it up later this year. it’s been a lot of fun.
not-quite-as-sad news: Comcast finally shut down our free cable, so now we’re just channels 1-13 as opposed to 1-78. not that we watched a ton, but mama misses her HGTV, and I’ll miss the occasional random baseball or basketball game. oh well. thankfully we’ve still got 2 flavors of PBS for Caleb, which allows us to sleep in on Saturday mornings, so that’ll have to do.
