we’re all moved into the new place and we’ve started the slow process of settling in. it’s strange to think that less than a month-and-a-half ago, we had no thoughts of moving at all. we’re so excited to be here and have a hard time sleeping b/c of all the things running through our heads.
many thanks to the many folks who helped us move in on Saturday. if you didnt get your beer (or even if you did), you’re welcome to it anytime, and hopefully we’ll have a cookout soon. it was a long day/weekend of moving, but it went quite well. there was even some excitement with Joseph’s truck bursting into flames, but thankfully noone died (besides the truck). my least favorite part about moving is being slapped in the face with the ugly fact that I own way too much stuff, but the new place has some nice closets, so we’ll try to hide things away.
anyway, we’ve started some improvements, the first being painting the kitchen. Michelle’s parents have been a huge help, and we may even be done with the first phase (the cabinets) today. besides unpacking, the only things we’re planning on doing soon are painting some rooms (there’s some unfortunate color choices that were apparently made in the 80s, or at least an 80s frame of mind) and building a fence for the kids and dogs.
the kids seem to be doing well with the transition, especially considering that Alice is teething and we’re so busy we havent spent as much time with them as we’d like. Caleb likes his new room with the sports border on it, and he may even be able to convice mama to leave it up. he really loves spending time with his grandparents, so the timing of their visit (planned before we had any idea we were going to move) was perfect. also, I’m very thankful that Alice has her own little room now too. now if only we wouldnt have trouble sleeping for other reasons.
as we swept up the old house in the final moments there, Michelle shed a few tears as we remembered all the good things that happened in our home. we’re also sad to leave our neighbors but thankful we didnt go too far (4 blocks/.3 mile). I guess I should change the name of the blog (it’s been “beulah land” mostly b/c we lived on Beulah Ave)?
Michelle’s folks leave tomorrow and Josie moves in the next day (and her little dog too!), so we’ve got more adustments coming soon. if anyone is around and would like to come by, we’d love to have you if you dont mind boxes everywhere for a little while. we may be having a painting party soon. down with the neon sponge painting! up with warm cozy earth tones!
I finally located the camera so we’ll try to get some pictures up soon. thanks to all for your prayers and help…it really is so encouraging and humbling to be in such a giving community. we want to be about giving more than receiving, so please let us know how, when and where we can serve you. and please do come by and say hi soon.
