I think most households with little kids often have "meltdown hour" or "the witching hour" sometime in the afternoon/evening. it can be a rough time. but tonight, after a bit of that, we had a magic hour: both kids were asleep at the same time. Caleb was down for the night, and Alice took her evening nap soon afterward. usually, for some reason, the timing works out so as soon as he's down, she's up and needing to be taken care of for the next two or 3 hours. but tonight it was blessedly quiet. since the sun was still up, I hurried to finish my little projects — hanging the porch light, installing the gate latch, and putting up our new mailbox (we finally splurged the $9 and got one to replace our old (literally) beat up one). all went quite well, and sure enough, she was up by the time I was winding down. but it's good to get a few things done around here. with a good supply of hours like that in the near future, we just might make good progress on the porch. to commemorate, I couldnt resist taking a few pics of our sleeping babies. arent they the cutest? more and bigger pics here.
