happy anniversary to us! nine years ago today, we pledged our love and our lives to eachother, little knowing what we were getting ourselves into. it’s been much much better, yet harder, than expected.
so I want to thank Michelle for her patience, kindness and love for me these nine years. I’m slowly realizing how little I really have it together, despite what I usually think, and despite what appearances may be. so it’s a comfort to know that she loves me no matter what.
not long ago we had a time of confusion, being unsure of how to love eachother well. I felt like I was really bad at loving her and I wasnt sure why or what to do about it. so I was talking with a wise friend, and he brought it home for me: focus on Jesus, meditate on Him, bask in His love. be filled, and then I can pour out love. for most of my life (not only in the past tense, but also the present), I try to pour out of me when I’m all-too-empty.
so may our 10th year together be truly marked by the love of Christ. I think I’m starting to understand a little better that verse we chose 9 years ago: we love because He first loved us.
