I would never compare this to being actually deaf, but I’m (hopefully) temporarily down to one functioning ear. so at the moment I’ve got one ear and one eye, and unfortunately they’re on opposite sides, which can make for awkward conversations. while in the shower I had a bunch of water go in my ear and it must have shoved some earwax or something up in there, b/c it’s pretty well blocked. a doctor friend had a look and confirmed that it’s no big deal and gave me some drops to try to break it up. hopefully we’ll have a breakthrough soon, or I guess I’ll have to go in and get it checked out. I’m helping with singing and playing at a special church service tonight, so who knows how loud I’ll be.
maybe next we’ll sew up a nostril or do away with half my tounge?
update: after five days, 6 ear candles, and seemingly gallons of peroxide and alcohol, I went to see the ear doctor. after the requisite waiting around, he put some stuff in my ear and sucked everything out, no problemo. yay.

Yikes; moments like these are no fun.
[...] it’s been a long week and it’s only wednesday. I’m still having ear problems as reported elsewhere which causes a headache after a while. we did music at a special church service on Monday, which [...]
When that happened to me I went to the doc on day one. Woke up deaf on one side. Scared me bad enough to run right to the walk-in clinic in Boynton.
Glad you’re OK.
